About Us
We, at Tiny Turtles Educare, see ourselves as a large extended family embracing parents, whanau, educators, children and also the community.
We see ourselves as being a welcoming place where children and parents can belong. A place where the values of people from all the different cultures present and the different abilities and skills are accepted and respected and valued.
At Tiny Turtles Educare we integrate and emphasise a bicultural perspective giving all children the opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding about the heritages of both partners to Te Tiriti O Waitangi.
Te Whariki, the National Early Childhood Curriculum, is the foundation that encourages holistic learning and development and on which we base this philosophy.
Our goal is to provide quality education that will have a significant and lasting impact on children's overall development.
Our aim is that when children leave our centre they will be more competent learners, confident and secure in their sense of belonging and have a love of learning that will continue throughout their lives.
How do we do it?
We see the environment as a major contributing educator to our children and have really tried to set up Tiny Turtles Educare to meet the varying developmental levels and learning needs of each child.
All children have the opportunity to experience a rich environment that encompasses tactile experiences, literacy and numeracy skills, outdoor play, sand/water/carpentry, block building, family play, puzzles, art, music and much more.
The children themselves choose the areas that interest them and the teachers are there to support and nurture and try and expand these interests and learning through discussion. These discussions often lead into the recording of learning stories which are kept in individual children's portfolios.
Our group of very caring and highly qualified staff are there to ensure that during the time your child is at Tiny Turtles Educare they receive high quality education and care that is tailored to their individual needs.
